Our premium Velis Vineyards Reservas are wines with character and long-ageing potential, made from red Bulgarian grapes vinified in Germany.
These are rare wines produced in small quantities. The collection includes 100% Syrah, 100% Petit Verdot and Cuvée, which is a Bordeaux-style blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc). All Reservas age in French barriques for a minimum of 12 months and spend another two or three years in bottle before release. The wines have a drinking window of at least twenty years.

Velis Vineyards - Syrah Reserva is powerful and very aromatic!
The Syrah of Velis Vineyards premium line is vinified varietal. The Syrah grape, originally from France, to be precise from the Rhône, brings develops a pleasant spiciness. The aromas are reminiscent of black cherries, cassis and pepper. During a long mashing time color, flavor and tannins are extracted from the skins of Syrah grapes. When pressing, we handle the grapes very carefully. Due to low pressure and the separation of the individual press fractions, we are able to determine very precisely how much tannins we want to have in the finished wine. The expansion of our Syrahs takes place for at least 12 months in French oak barrels. This ensures that the wine can continue to develop even more complexity. After maturing in oak barrels, bottling takes place. Another 12 months in the bottle before putting the wine on the market, guarantee round and well balanced wines, which still have the potential to ripen for a longer time.

PETIT VERDOT
A single varietal Petit Verdot - a true rarity!
Petit Verdot is a classic grape variety from Bordeaux, but it only matures there in the best years. Originally, we had planted the grape variety to complement and round off our Premium Cuvée. However, because of the optimal ripening of the berries due to the good climatic conditions in Bulgaria, it is possible for us to make some liters of the Petit Verdots pure. This is a true rarity. Due to the small berries of the Petit Verdots, the juice yield is low, but the aroma from the berry skins is all the more intense. Each year we vinify a few bottles, which are strictly limited. Like our other Reservas, the Petit Verdot is aged for 12 months in French barriques and then matures in bottle for another 12 months. The result: unique wines with spicy aromas!

CUVÉE
Bordeaux grape varieties combined in an excellent blend!
Our answer to French Bordeaux wines. Our cuvée consists of the classic grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. With the utmost care, the grapes are selected on a shaking table upon arrival at our winery, so that only the best grapes are used for our cuvée. Depending on the vintage, we decide anew in which proportions the grape varieties are blended together in order to bring out the best of the grapes in each case. A special feature is that, unlike Bordeaux, we can add Petit Verdot to our cuvée every year, as the grapes ripen every year due to the good climatic conditions. The small-grape Petit Verdot grapes provide a special note in the red wine and round it off perfectly. The aging of our Reserva Cuvée takes place for at least 12 months in French barrique barrels, then we let the red wine mature for another 12 months in the bottle before it goes on sale.
